FROM THE CHAIR
My dear fellow tongzhis:
Greetings! We had a most successful new year banquet last month. We had a
private VIP room, great food, warm socializing with loyal members as well as
brand new faces, raffle drawings, and a true fun time. The food was mostly
Shanghai cuisine, rich and delicious, eleven courses, and a new treat for some
attendees. We had 100% attendance, ie, everyone who RSVPed showed up! Most
amazing! Some asked for more dining events like this in the future.
One high-light of the event was a beautiful plaque with the certificate of
appreciation presented to Charles, who did a fantastic job of producing and
directing last year's Asian Costume Show and Contest. That event drew over 100
happy attendees. Your truly did the text of the certificate, but it was Andy
who designed and ordered such a gorgeous color award. (Hey tongzhis, do
something special for CRA and you too can receive a most meaningful plaque like
this!)
For march, we'll have a potluck party in convenient Alhambra. Our potlucks are
well-known for being friendly, fun, and empowering. There will be karaoke of
Chinese songs too. So don't miss this one on Saturday March 29.
For April, we should have a buffet dinner in a Chinese restaurant in San
Fernando Valley and a potluck party in a view home in San Gabriel Valley.
Soon there will be a CRA scholarship fund foundation, giving grants to
deserving gay Chinese students. Several members have already expressed interest
in making contributions to this very worthy and noble project. We will keep you
posted in the development of this endeavor.
While we are organizing these events and projects for you, please don't forget
that we are a non-profit body, and we depend on the membership dues and
donations, and a lot of volunteering, to operate. So please be sure to pay your
annual dues, which by the way, has been reduced to $20 per year. Thank you very
much.
