FROM THE CHAIR - October
Dear fellow tongzhis:
We have had 2 fun events recently. The September pool party was fabulous. The
weather was warm and perfect. We had food, swimming, games, cheers, and B-B-Qing,
thanks to our gracious hosts Liming and Rick. Their newly furbished house,
yard, pool, huge kitchen area, guest house are perfect for such an occasion.
Our October "Asian Costume Party" in West Hollywood was also fun, friendly and
fabulous. Special Thanks to APAIT for their generous contributions and help.
Congratulations to all the winners of the contest. We certainly look forward to
more cooperation with APAIT and GAPSN.
Before you know it, it is already November and that means time for nomination
for our next year's board members. If you are interested in serving on the
board, please be sure to come the board meeting at 6 pm on Sat., Nov. 22, in
Valley village, a very easy location to get to. (Please see the map in the
event announcement.) Remember, we are constantly looking for new volunteers who
can help our organization in all areas. And our association is growing fast.
If you don't mind spending a little time in contributing to and/or serving our
fellow tongzhis and friends, our gay Chinese community, you are most welcome to
join our board.
Next year will be a significant one for us -- we will be seeking official
non-profit status, and we will be a part of the revived API Pride council,
which will serve as a spokesperson for the entire southland's Asian Pacific
Islanders GLBT community.
Have a great November and see you all on November 22.

FROM THE CHAIR - September
Dear fellow tongzhis:
Our dining-out event on Labor Day was a great success. We had a full house of
guests in the VIP room of a Shanghai restaurant. We ordered 9 courses of
authentic regional cuisine and the cost was most reasonable. There were loyal
members as well as new faces. The socializing was so good that it lingered on
with some diners after the party to the front of the restaurant and later to
another coffee shop for after-dinner coffee and desserts!
Some guests wanted to have more such events, so please keep checking for the
next unofficial dining-out party.
August is the hottest month of the year in the Southland, and September is
still very warm, especially in the Valley. Thus our next CRA get-together will
be a pool party. There will be food, games, karaoke and more. We are expecting
a big turn-out, so don't miss this fun event.
Every year in the past, CRA has sponsored a fun Asian Costume party for
October. Come in your best Asian costumes and you can enter the contest and win
fabulous prizes. It will be a special event with lots of food, entertainment
and socializing.
If you want to help out with any of the events and activities, please don't
hesitate to let us know. It will be fun and rewarding to the volunteers.
Remember this is a volunteer organization, and it is the volunteers that make
things happen for all.
I will see you all at the up-coming events.
