to tone your physique! So come and join your CRA comrades, for the practice starting on
Sunday, June 20, 1999. Yes, even if you dont play, come anyway to socialize with
your friends, and have a relaxing time. Cold drinks will be served.

From the Co-Chairs:
Hello, Everyone, We are very pleased to bring back the newsletter to you in a new
format and we hope you will enjoy it. CRA board has gone through some organization changes
recently and we are very happy to report that several new members have joined the CRA
board. The new board is committed to bringing more and better service to the members and
making changes in the positive direction. We hope everyone will help us out in that
endeavor.
We have many activities planned for the month of June. We are
starting our traditional summer outdoor event Beach Volleyball on June 20 in Long
Beach. And dont forget our monthly social/potluck on June 26 in West Hollywood.
Please note that we have put in some new policies regarding the socials: 1) All
non-members need to pay $3 for attending regular CRA functions; 2) Potluck party
participants are encouraged to bring their favorite dishes to the functions, if not, are
required to contribute $5 at the door. These measures are enacted to ensure the CRA
members privilege and control our financial budget. We appreciate your understanding
and cooperation.
Of course, the main event of June is the annual LA gay pride
parade and festival CSW (Christopher Street West) on June 11-13. CRA has been a
part of the CSW for the last two years and we all enjoyed the past events very much. For
this year CRA will be marching in the parade and hosting booths with other gay API groups.
As a fund raising event, we will also be selling the festival tickets for CSW with GAPSN
and LAAPIS. These are fun and exciting activities and we hope everyone will participate
and enjoy them. We definitely need a lot of volunteers for the CSW events, especially the
ticket sales. Please contact Andre or Liming to get more information. Please do get
involved. --L. Zhou and Y. Song
The
Dawning of a New Era
On April 24, the CRA board met and conducted a productive
meeting before the April social event. L. Zhou, one of the co-chairs, gave a brief history
of CRA and reported the current status of our organization. He also expressed thoughts of
future plans and possible activities.
In the area of CRA officers or volunteers directors, L. Zhou
agreed to serve another year with Y. Song as co-chairs. Also, Hans C. would take the
position of publications director, in charge of the newsletter and web. Simon C.
would remain as the treasurer and Simon S. would continue his position as public relations
director. Andre T. volunteered to be the social director, working on monthly social,
outdoor activities, and future special events. Hector H. volunteered to be the new
membership director, in charge of new member recruitment, membership renewal and
retention, record keeping and other duties concerning membership. E. Wu would be our
member-at-large.
All members present were enthusiastic about the coming year
(1999-2000). Besides the continuing volleyball practices and competition and Christopher
Street West participation, many new ideas for possible future events were voiced and
discussed. Some proposals for future fun events were made. More participants were promised
for CSW.
CRA members can expect a series of meaningful and fun activities
in the coming year! -- Andre T. |
