| Equality Begins at Home Rally |
| February 24, 1999 Dear Friends, We are writing to invite you to participate in this year's first statewide civil rights rally, Equality Begins at Home (EBAH). The rally will be held on March 21 on the west steps of the state Capitol from noon to 3 p.m. There will be many well known speakers, entertainment and food. Folks from around the state will be joining us for this important event. Equality Begins at Home is a 50-state action developed by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the Federation of Statewide Gay/Lesbian/ Bisexual and Transgender Groups. Its purpose is to emphasize the importance of states in the struggle for equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans. The California Alliance for Pride and Equality (CAPE) is sponsoring this event. Activists from around the state recently formed CAPE to focus on lobbying the state legislature about gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender civil rights issues. EBAH will kick-off our efforts to capitalize on the new, favorable political environment in Sacramento. If your organization is interested in having a table at the rally, please contact Sam Catalano at (916) 564-2327. There will be a small charge of $25 for groups that are not members of CAPE. Table space will be assigned first come, first serve, so call as soon as possible. We hope to see you at this exciting event. Sincerely, Julie Snyder Greg Brooks CAPE Sacramento Regional Representatives CAPE, P O Box 1172, Sacramento, CA 95812 - 916-492-6160 Or, contact me and I'll get you set up. Esther Lee 415-821-0835 |
