Like Buying Fried Foods, This Billionaire Bought 3 Elon Musk’s SpaceX Planes

NEW YORK, – Jared Isaacman, the billionaire founder of payments company Shift4, continues to add to his collection of spacecraft.

Like buying fried foods, this time Jared Isaacman is rumored to have bought 3 spacecraft produced by SpaceX, the company owned by the world’s richest man, Elon Musk.

Jared Isaacman was among the invited guests who attended Musk’s Starship presentation last week, at the company’s facility in Texas. With the purchase, Jared Isaacman owns 4 SpaceX spacecraft.

Collecting airplanes is indeed a hobby of Jared Isaacman who was driven by billionaire astronauts. He enjoys flying, even on a space mission with his personal SpaceX spacecraft last year.

Along with the purchase of 3 SpaceX spacecraft, Jared Isaacman announced the Polaris Dawn mission will be carried out in three stages.

Polaris Dawn’s first mission is targeted to launch 4 crews led directly by Jared Isaacman, in the fourth quarter of 2022. The mission will use the company’s Falcon 9 rocket and crew dragon spacecraft.

According to the program’s website, the inaugural flight, Polaris Dawn, will be the first of three missions, with the latter being the first crewed space flight of SpaceX’s Starship rocket.

“The Polaris program is an important step in advancing human space exploration while helping to solve problems through the use of innovative technologies on Earth,” isaacman said in a statement.

The Polaris Dawn mission will spend up to five days in orbit and strive to achieve goals such as the first private corporate spacewalk in SpaceX’s space suit, testing Starlink satellite communications in space, and conducting scientific research on human health.

Polaris Dawn marks the start of SpaceX’s own astronaut corps. Jared Isaacman, the mission commander, will join longtime colleague Scott Poteet as pilots. Two SpaceX employees, Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon, the company’s lead space operations engineer, completed the crew. Gillis oversaw the astronaut training program and Menon managed the development of his crew’s operations.

In September 2021, Jared Isaacman led the historic Inspiration4 mission. The spaceflight mission, aboard his private SpaceX spacecraft, spent three days in orbit in SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule with four crew members.

The main goal of Inspiration4’s mission is to raise $200 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Through the mission, Jared Isaacman managed to raise funds beyond that goal target and donated more than $240 million to charity.

Just like the Inspiration4 mission, Jared Isaazman said, the Polaris Down mission will raise funds and concern for St. Jude.
